Exhausted Home Care Team Needs a Break
Families often keep up homecare for years as Alzheimer disease progresses or physical debilitation takes an increasing toll on an aging loved one. As the difficulty level increases, family members become exhausted. They lose focus and struggle with depression and a sense of futility. The great thing about assisted living facilities is the flexible timeline of a stay. Many assisted living facilities offer respite care, and rent is paid month to month.
There is no obligation to stay any longer than the resident desires. It is great to get a break, knowing that one can always go home, or not. Often people on respite for only a month, decide they want to stay. It is a great way to try out the situation without ever having to make some irrevocable decision.
@CCRCWhitney there is a nurse available 24 hours per day if any emergency arises.
